Practical course renewable raw materials

Practicals are performed as one week full time "research experience" in a team of two studens. Topics investigated so far:

catalyst (organic strong bases) screening for triglyceride synthesis; reaction monitoring by GC and TLC; "hit" selection
transesterification of three different plant oils (different FA composition); analysis of the FAME mixture; subsequent cross-metathesis reactions (3 groups, each with a different plant oil); identification of CM products by MS
